Traveling with Horses

A rare opportunity to stay, ride, and explore from the redwoods to the coast.

Chez Serendip welcomes guests traveling with horses and offers a peaceful, practical home base for riders who want direct access to exceptional trail systems while staying immersed in nature.

With an Airbnb booking at the Carriage House, we can accommodate travelers with up to two horses by advance arrangement. Our setup is designed to be simple, secure, and respectful of both visiting and resident animals.

On-property accommodations for visiting horses

Visiting horses are housed in an uncovered but secure sanded arena, located separately from our resident horses. This allows for a calm environment and appropriate boundaries between animals.

We can accommodate:

  • Up to two visiting horses per stay

  • Secure sanded arena turnout

  • On-site parking and storage for a two-horse trailer

  • Hay and feed storage, with feeding coordinated by request

This arrangement works well for short stays, trail-based riding, or as a base for exploring nearby parks and preserves.

Trail access directly from the property

One of the most unique aspects of staying at Chez Serendip with horses is direct access to nearby trail systems.

From the property, riders can access:

  • Redwood Glen trails

  • Glenwood Preserve trails

These routes offer a mix of shaded forest paths and open land, making them ideal for relaxed trail rides without the need to trailer out.

Nearby riding destinations

For guests looking to explore further, several well-loved riding destinations are within easy driving distance.

Henry Cowell Redwoods State Park

Less than 20 minutes away, Henry Cowell Redwoods State Park is a favorite among horseback riding enthusiasts. The park offers a variety of trails that wind through towering redwoods, open grasslands, and river-adjacent terrain. Trails range in difficulty and are well suited for riders seeking both quiet forest rides and more open stretches.
